Short answer: There is no reliable single Germany-wide PSMA PET/CT price for every international patient. The total depends on the clinical question, the PSMA radiotracer and protocol, whether the CT component is low-dose or diagnostic and contrast-enhanced, any required laboratory testing, specialist interpretation and whether consultation is included. Request a written estimate only after the nuclear-medicine team confirms that PSMA PET/CT is appropriate for the case.

Why the diagnostic estimate should be case-specific

For an international self-pay patient, the useful question is not only the scanner price. The center first needs to confirm the clinical indication and the exact examination protocol. UKE describes international-patient estimates as being prepared from the medical plan and applicable German billing rules before prepayment and appointment confirmation.

The CT component can change the scope

A PET/CT appointment can include different CT protocols. A low-dose CT used mainly for attenuation correction and anatomical localization is not financially or clinically identical to a diagnostic contrast-enhanced CT. Ask the center to state which CT protocol is included in the quotation.

The scan should answer a defined prostate-cancer question

UKE lists Ga-68 PSMA PET/CT specifically for prostate cancer, while other university nuclear-medicine services use PSMA imaging for selected staging, recurrence and treatment-planning questions. The estimate should therefore be linked to the actual clinical purpose rather than a generic whole-body scan request.

What to ask the quotation to include

Clarify the complete diagnostic episode before comparing offers.

  • PSMA tracer and PET/CT examination
  • Low-dose versus diagnostic CT component
  • Iodinated CT contrast if planned
  • Creatinine or other laboratory testing if required
  • Nuclear-medicine physician interpretation
  • Written report and image access or DICOM export

Do not compare PSMA PET/CT with Lu-177 PSMA therapy pricing

PSMA PET/CT is a diagnostic examination. Lu-177 PSMA radioligand therapy is a separate treatment pathway that can involve inpatient care, repeated cycles, laboratory monitoring and additional imaging. A price advertised for one should not be interpreted as the price of the other.
