MitraClip / TEER Cost in Germany for International Patients

Understand why TEER pricing in Germany depends on valve anatomy, device strategy, imaging, inpatient care and the final structural-heart treatment plan.

Short answer: There is no safe single international-patient price for MitraClip or other TEER procedures in Germany. A quotation depends on the exact mitral or tricuspid lesion, number and type of devices expected, imaging, anesthesia, catheter-lab resources, inpatient stay and whether the Heart Team changes the treatment strategy after specialist review.

The quotation follows the structural-heart decision

The first step is not a price request but a clinical and imaging review. TEER may be compared with surgery, valve replacement or medical treatment, so a center cannot price a meaningful procedure until it knows which treatment is actually being proposed.

What can change the total

Ask the hospital to define the assumed scope of the episode.

  • Mitral versus tricuspid intervention
  • Number and type of clips/devices
  • Transesophageal echocardiography and other imaging
  • General anesthesia or sedation strategy
  • Cardiac catheterization or coronary work-up
  • Length of inpatient stay
  • Post-procedure echocardiography
  • Treatment of complications or a change in procedural strategy

Device cost is not the whole hospital bill

The implant is only one component. Imaging, catheter-lab use, physician services, anesthesia, ward care, diagnostics and follow-up can materially affect the final invoice.

Confirm what happens if TEER is not performed

International patients should ask how diagnostic review, invasive assessment or a cancelled/changed intervention would be billed if the Heart Team decides that clipping is not appropriate after arrival.
