Cause-focused diagnostics can materially change the first estimate
A DCM work-up can include specialist echocardiography, cardiac MRI, coronary assessment, rhythm monitoring, laboratory testing, genetics and selected myocardial biopsy. The hospital should account for which investigations have already been completed and which questions remain unresolved.
Medical heart-failure care and device therapy are different cost pathways
Many patients are treated primarily with medication and follow-up. ICD or CRT implantation is a separate procedure episode that depends on ventricular function, conduction pattern, arrhythmia risk and response to medical therapy.
Functional valve disease can add another treatment decision
Secondary mitral or tricuspid regurgitation may accompany ventricular dilation. If valve intervention is considered, the quotation should separate the valve procedure from the broader DCM and heart-failure treatment plan.
Advanced-heart-failure evaluation is not a standard DCM package
Mechanical circulatory support or transplant evaluation applies only to selected advanced cases. International patients should request a case-specific estimate after specialist review rather than rely on a generic LVAD or transplant price attributed to every patient with low ejection fraction.
Long-term follow-up may continue outside Germany
Medication titration, repeated imaging, rhythm monitoring, genetic-family screening and device follow-up can continue over years. Separate the German specialist episode from the ongoing care budget in the home country.
